Recently PSAT & SAT’s came to an end and with them marks the beginning of the end of the year. The SATs are mandatory state tests that everyone in their junior year must take. For the past few years post-COVID, the SATs, while important, a good score was not needed for most colleges.
Recently, however, the trends are showing that colleges and universities will begin to reverse course, adding a new emphasis on standardized test performance. While our juniors were taking their SATs our sophmores and freshman were taking their PSATs. The PSATs are the same as the SATs, but it is most like a practice test, which will be very important to have moving forward. Many people who took their SAT/PSAT think that they did well and will hopefully continue to do well.
These tests are important for the school as they ultimately help to monitor teacher impact, student growth, and overall school performance, which is connected to state and federal funding. These tests can be scored anywhere from 400-1600 and are primarily focused on English and math skills.
