Heyworth Jr-Sr High School has lots of amazing staff and teachers but some of the teachers go above and beyond! We want to show appreciation for two specific teachers, Mr. Kirkton and Miss Blair. These teachers have demonstrated continuously to students, parents, and other staff members how much they care about the school and their passion for teaching.
Mr. Kirkton is one of Heyworth's English teachers and the Journalism teacher. He pushes his students to work hard and reach their goals in and out of the classroom. He’s also a track and field coach for Heyworth's track team. He has worked at Heyworth for 9 years and was recently offered a position at Blue Ridge High School as an assistant principal. He will be taking this position for the 2024-2025 school year. He will be missed at Heyworth, he has influenced many students throughout the 9 years. We wish him the best of luck at his new school!
Miss Blair is the Junior High math teacher at Heyworth. She strives to help her students have fun in class, learn, and she inspires students to work hard. Miss Blair recently got recognized by ROE #17 for her excellence in teaching and her love for numbers. When Miss Blair was asked, “How do you feel about getting this recognition?” she replied with, “It feels nice to get recognized and it was a good surprise.”
