The wrestling 2023 wrestling season has officially started, and there's a lot of hype surrounding the fact that we will not be co-oping with Olympia and instead, we will have our own home team. Because of this, there are a lot of new and old wrestlers joining the new team. We interviewed a few different wrestlers to get their opinions on this year's season.
The first person we interviewed was Hunter Bockelmen, a junior and 1st time wrestler.
Why do you want to do wrestling? “Coach Albaugh convinced me to join.” Are you excited? “In certain ways, I’m kind of nervous but it's something new and it'll be fun” How do you think you're going to do this year? “Depends, hoping to win a few matches, and we'll see where we can go from there.” How do you feel about the new coaches? “They seem nice, seem a lot different than what I thought a wrestling coach would be like ”
The second person we interviewed was a junior, Michael Vacca.
Why do you want to do wrestling? “It's a lot of fun, and it's fun to be on the team”
Are you excited? “You know it” How do you think you're going to do this year? “Pretty decent I think” How do you feel about the new coaches? “Good guys with a lot of experience and I'm ready to learn from them”
The third person we interviewed was the sophomore Braiden Kletz.
Why do you want to do wrestling? “Helps with football” Are you excited? “Yes, I like slamming people” How do you think you're going to do this year?” I want to have a winning record but I probably won't go to state” How do you feel about the new coaches? “Great they're all good and I know them”
