On Thursday, December 7th, the Heyworth wrestling team left at 3:45 pm and traveled to Lincoln High School for the Manahan Duals. The Manahan Duals are named after Mike Manahan who was the head coach at Olympia and helped out at Heyworth, He coached the coaches who currently coach at Olympia, Heyworth, Lincoln, Uhigh, and Dee-Mack. He started the programs at Heyworth, Uhigh, and Dee-Mack. The Manahan Duals have been held for over a decade. While Heyworth had a few wins, the team still has a lot of room for improvement and more wins to come as the season goes on.
Girls wrestler, Haley Richter, visited a tournament in Pontiac on Friday, December 8th for around 7 hours leaving at 12:30 pm. She stated, “It was a good tournament and I was told that beforehand so I wasn't expecting any wins but nonetheless, I'm excited I got to go and see my competition for the end of the season.”
On Saturday, December 9th a Heyworth wrestler left town at 5:45 am for a tournament in Petersburg and had a long day with spending over 12 hours there. We had so much improvement and good wrestling compared to the previous two days. Two of the wrestlers were able to make it to placing matches with Logan Stout as the consolation runner-up and Jarrod Fulcher placing 7th.
