Over this past weekend, our amazing band and choir students took to the risers and performed a well-thought-out group of songs, there were also special performances from the Heyworth harmony (5th and 6th grade choir) as well as both 5th and 6th grade bands. Being in choir teaches teamwork, companionship, and nonverbal communication, and is also a very open and kind environment where you know you won't be judged no matter how bad you think your singing is, In choir over the 3 groups there were 13 songs, 3 by Heyworth harmonies, 4 by the Junior High choir, 5 by the high school choir including 3 pieces from there former competition where they were awarded the division 2 superior rating which is an overall great rating. All three choirs also performed one group piece.

Before the last song in both the high school choir and high school band performance, the seniors were called up and recognized as well. They all had little notes for people interested in band or choir a lot of them being just trust yourself and try even if you think you might not be good at it, it doesn't hurt to try.
Robin was awarded the choir John Philip Sousa award, the highest honor given to high school choir students. She has participated in the musical the past 3 years playing Fiona in Shrek the Musical, Babbitt from Beauty and the Beast, and the Minstrel it this year's show Once Upon a Mattress
Marua was awarded the band John Philip Sousa award, the highest honor given to high school band students. She was also given the scholarship to be an accompanist with a choir at Drury University. Marua played oboe in the pit for this year's musical Once Upon a Mattress.
We are very proud of all of the amazing students that sang and played their best for the audience. And we are even prouder of the seniors who are graduating to pursue bigger and better things, whether it is still in music or something new and unique.
