The PSAT is a standardized test offered for freshmen, sophomores, and juniors each fall to help prepare for the spring testing session. The results from the official SAT and PSAT will be used for college entrance as well as for scholarship applications, so performing well on these tests is very important. By taking the PSAT in the fall, students can better prepare themselves. The value of this test was apparent as 65 Heyworth students voluntarily signed up to test this fall.
On October 11th, in the new high school gym, students took what was probably the hardest test they had ever taken. The difficulty isn't always in the level of the questions, as some challenge comes from trying to stay focused for such a long period of time and not get bored and "space out." This was the first year that the PSAT was online and to add to the stress of these changes, the fire alarm went off at the beginning of the test. As with any new rollout for technology, there were also a few glitches in the test according to some students, but these did not impact their overall performance.
