The homecoming parade, bonfire, and coronation are all on Wednesday the 27th. This packed evening begins at 6:00 PM, when the various floats and teams will begin the process of lining up. Officially, the parade will step off at 6:30, led by local law enforcement and the Heyworth Marching Band. The parade will consist of floats that represent each graduating class from the high school as well as the fall sports and activities.

Once the parade makes it back to the high school, the bonfire will begin. We interviewed Maddux McPartlin (12) about the bonfire as he is helping to organize and build the bonfire that we all get to enjoy. Maddux stated that he had to get a permit from the village of Heyworth to allow us to have the bonfire and then he had to arrange for pallets delivered to the high school on Wednesday morning. Maddux, along with several other students will then be tasked to stack these pallets and get the base of the bonfire built Wednesday morning. It is a lot of pressure, but it helps to ensure some wonderful homecoming week memories.

After the bonfire, the attendees will move to the football field, where the new king and queen will be crowned. This crowning of the king and queen is based on the votes of the high school students and staff. To be eligible, students must be involved in a fall sport or activity. When interviewing students about this year's homecoming court, the student population seems fairly split on who they think will end up wearing the crowns at the end of the night.
