Hornet Volleyball Senior Night

The Hornet Volleyball Team has found much success this season. With a record of 12-9 overall, and 5-5 in the Heart of Illinois conference. This past week the Hornets played Monday against Delavan winning in two sets, Tuesday versus Leroy also winning in two sets, and Thursday they traveled to Downs to take on a tough Tri-Valley team, sadly losing both sets.

We continue to see many improvements with this young team, as it only consists of two seniors. The season is winding down, which means senior night is right around the corner. On Thursday, October 12th we hope to see you at Hornet Gymnasium to help us congratulate our two seniors, Carsyn Langellier and Macie Toepke on a great four years of Heyworth volleyball.

The theme for Thursday night is white lies. The opponent for senior night is Flanagan-Cornell who is 11th in conference with a record of 6-18.

We interviewed both seniors, asking about their favorite memories of their whole high school volleyball experience. Macie said she will always remember the moments Robertson got red cards and the times the team went to eat after games. Carsyn’s favorite memory is beating Eureka this season and growing a stronger connection with teammates. Then we asked what they would miss most about Hornet volleyball, Macie will miss being with her teammates every day and competing against other teams multiple days a week. Carsyn will miss the atmosphere of game days and getting to be a part of a team. The last question was what are your future plans after Heyworth? Macie plans to major in nursing at a college that is undetermined. Carsyn plans to attend Illinois Central College and study sonography.
