HOCO Court Spotlight

As we all know it is homecoming week and on Wednesday, September 27 the homecoming king and queen will be announced on the football field after the homecoming parade and bonfire. This year's homecoming court contains Sage Ellis, Alex Dalhauser, Macie Topke, Tyler Wills, Carsyn Langellier, Nate Lopez, Maura McMillian, and Nathaniel Roehrig. The journalism class interviewed all 8 members of the court, asking what fall activities or clubs they do, what they plan on doing after high school, and why they think they should win.

Alex Dalhouser is a part of the cross country team and plans to go to college after high school and hopefully run track. When we asked him why he should be homecoming king he said, “I’m a friendly guy.”

Nathaniel Roehrig Is in multiple different fall activities including, cross country, Student Council, National Honors Society Treasurer, and Band. After graduation, Nathaniel plans to go to college for mechanical engineering and hopes to run cross country and track. Then he plans to get a job designing cars and other vehicles. When asked why people should vote for him, he said, “I should be a hoco king because I love being involved in the school activities and the fall season. I would be a good representative for the class. I also get along with tons of people in the school.”

Nate Lopez is in a bunch of school clubs like the student council, National Honors Society, and Band. After high school, Nate plans to become a Geotechnical engineer through Heartland. When we asked him why he should be homecoming king he said, “More Money More Swag More Women”

Tyler Wills is playing football this fall and after high school, he wants to attend a four-year university. When we asked him why he deserved to be homecoming king he said, “ I'm a very involved student-athlete at Heyworth High School.”

Maura McMillian is in multiple different clubs including Key Club, Art Club, and Band. Additionally, she is the senior class president of the student council. She plans to go into musical therapy after high school however she hasn’t not decided on a college yet. When asked why she should be queen she said, “ I do a lot for our class and enjoy helping in ways that I can around the school. I feel like I am a good representation of a person who shows school spirit and is a compassionate person.”

Carsyn Langellier is a member of the volleyball team. She thinks she should be homecoming queen because she said, “I’m nice to people and friendly.” After high school, she plans to study sonography at a two-year college.

Macie Topke is on the volleyball team and a part of the National Honors Society, after high school plans to major in nursing in college however she has not decided on a college yet. When asked about why she should be homecoming queen she said,” I support HHS in all types of ways and I’m a good representation of an HHS student.”

Sage Ellis is a part of multiple clubs including the Art Club, Student Council, and National Honors Society. Her reasons for she stated why she should be homecoming queen were that she thinks she is a good representation of what an HHS student should be. Specifically, she said, “I feel like I'm deserving because I do a lot for the school and I feel like I'm a good representation of what a Heyworth student should be.” Sage plans to study radiology after high school.
