Girls Track Breaking Records

Clara Papacek

On April 9th, 2024, Kyra Denning, Danielle Strunk, Carsyn Langelier, and Abby Bloemer broke the school record on the 4x200 relay. Their time was 1:50.63. This record was a big deal for the girl's track team, as the previous record had stood since 1976. This was the first outdoor track meet of the season and one of the first meets altogether. This was a big accomplishment for them and we can only hope that they’ll get even faster.

These girls in the 4x200 did phenomenal, and even they say so themselves. All girls said that they didn’t do anything differently, besides stretching a little bit more and talking to each other more which helped them lock in. Thanks to the fans, and community, it helped us break them and break the record, because as a few members of the relay said, it's always nice to hear family, and friends cheering you on from the stands. All the girls were very happy and excited about breaking the record, as they’d been working on it since the beginning of the season, and now they can improve and do better, because it was only the first meet, so they have a lot of room and time to improve. All girls said that the coaches definitely helped them within the relay to get faster and improve especially with the handoffs, which can cut seconds off their time.

As a school, we all want to congratulate these girls, as they have worked hard and pushed themselves to the limits, and they all see room for improvement to only make their time faster, and break the school record once again. So a huge congratulations to Kyra Denning, Danielle Strunk, Carsyn Langelier, and Abby Bloemer for having confidence in themselves, and seeing the way that they can push themselves, and get better.
