There are officially two weeks until the girls start their basketball season. This year, the girls are working hard to get prepared to take the court, with lots of hungry underclassmen looking to make a statement this year.
This year started with one of their favorite traditions, Midnight Madness. Midnight Madness is where the team comes together at the stroke of midnight, technically as it is the first moment they can officially practice together. Junior basketball player Gabby Dow said “It was really fun" and that they got to play fun games and shoot around. She went on to say that "Midnight madness is a positive way for the team to start off the season.” Following the fun beginnings, they continue to practice all week with morning and afternoon practice sessions.
With the season being just around the corner the girls are very excited to come together as a team and they are hoping for some great things to happen this year According to junior Riley Nave, “I am very excited to start this season and make new goals for myself and even my teammates. Being able to put all my effort and seeing my teammates do the same, can help us go far this season. Lastly, getting to know everyone on the team is always a good way to create stronger and even new bonds.”
The Heyworth Girls Basketball team is ready to take on the season in front of them. They are excited and very prepared for what is coming up, even with the ups and downs. Come out and support the Hey City Basketball on 11/17 taking on Cerro Gordo at home!
