When it comes to the FFA, we do a lot of fun things. However, my favorite event and the most recent event is the FFA National Convention. In this convention, there are a lot of things that happen. This year, although not being my first, was my favorite. The National Convention for FFA takes place in Indianapolis, Indiana. You get to meet people from all over the United States. This year was really fun for me because this year was a bit more interactive and interesting than last year's. We got to vote on whether Dr. Pepper or Coca-Cola was better, we got to rate members' hog calls, and, although some found it boring, we got to watch people get all sorts of awards. The most noticeable of the awards were the recognition of two former Heyworth FFA members. Lauren Toohill, and Skye Shoemaker. They both received their American FFA Degrees, one of the highest degrees someone their age could get.
When we weren't at the convention hall we got to go play laser tag, go to an arcade, make Target runs, eat delicious food, and even go to a concert. My favorite thing about the convention was on the way back. Every single year we always get The Beef House. The Beef House is a great restaurant with the most amazing rolls I have ever had. If I recall correctly, one of the other students who went this year ate 9 rolls!
The FFA National Convention is one of the best times throughout the year. No matter if you are tired from a long day or have to get up at 5 AM, you are guaranteed to find something that will put you in a good mood at some point throughout the day. If I were you, I would definitely join FFA if you get the chance. If you go to events, you can possibly join us at our next National Convention.
