Last weekend we had the Fall Sports Banquet. During the banquet, we heard from the coaches of the volleyball, football, cross country, golf, and cheer teams speak about their seasons. The football team had their best season in a decade going 7-3 and the first time in over a decade going to the playoffs. The volleyball team ended the season with a winning record going 18-15 having their first winning record in a few years. The boy's golf team also had a great season going 18-4. Although the girl's golf team did not win a match this season they were able to get some new people to go out for the team this season, they were able to improve throughout the seasons and hope to build off of that next year. The Cross-Country team made huge improvements for both the boys and the girls where multiple runners dropped several minutes off their three-mile.
This fall the different sports teams made big improvements and we celebrated these achievements at the banquet. One of the notable accomplishments was Senior Tyler Wills making First Team all-conference. Gage Gaber, Tyler Brown, and Cooper Johnson got second-team all-conference helping the Hornets football team to their 7-3 record. Some other individual accomplishments were for the boys’ golf team advancing Tyler Bartels and Brady Wicklander to sectionals. Alex Dalhlhauser and Nathaniel Roehrig were also able to advance to sectionals for the boys' cross-country team. The volleyball team had a successful season going 18-15. Some of their major stat leaders were Lyla Tate with 266 kills, Lyla Tate with 35 aces, Marissa Moore with 37 total blocks, Macie Toepke with 298 digs, and Ava Riddle with 649 assists.
That is a look into the fall sports banquet. The 2023 fall sports teams have had really successful seasons all together. Hopefully, the success doesn't stop here but it will continue into the winter and spring seasons. The future for these teams is getting brighter as they continue to rally their community around them.
