With Easter right around the corner and all of these different traditions all around the world. Diving into the traditions all around the world that each country has to celebrate. Let's start off with our own home country. Start off by having a basket search around your home or yard for your children to have little gifts from the Easter bunny! Next, have an egg hunt for all the children to enjoy and find candy, money, or other little gifts for the kiddos to have. Followed by decorating eggs with colored water. Then to end the night off spend time with family and friends with a large meal of honey-roasted ham and some delicious sides for everyone to enjoy.
However, what happens in other countries might seem abnormal to us in the U.S., you might take a second look and try these traditions from other places for your family to experience.
Australia and New Zealand have these delicious cross buns that are served on Easter that all ages enjoy eating with their families. Although instead of treating themselves with these treats in the springtime….they consume them during the fall!
Greece follows somewhat of the same tradition when it comes to decorating their eggs with colorful dyes. Instead of bright blues, pinks, and greens, they stick with various shades of red.
One of the more creative traditions is in a country called Antigua. People all over towns and cities in this country will prepare these carpets and rugs for Good Friday and will lay these colorfully filled works of art out in the street for everyone to see and look in awe at the amazing patterns that are woven.
And last but not least is the most interesting tradition that has been found so far. In the country of Czech, young men and boys will tie colorful and intricately woven ribbons to the end of a willow branch or stick. And when they see a young woman or girl. These boys will gently whip the ladies to wish them luck and good health in life.
Which tradition was your favorite? Or is there a tradition that you wish more people knew about?
