Spring break is coming up! Some people can’t wait for the time to sit back and relax at home and others are looking forward to a getaway. But what if you could go anywhere in the world and the cost didn’t matter? We asked lots of students and staff around the school where they would travel on their dream vacations.
We received a wide variety of responses but some places were more commonly said than others. The first place with 3 different people wanting to go there, is Italy. Mr. Kirton, Mrs. Moore, and Chase Ruppert all would choose to take their dream vacation in Italy. Italy is a beautiful place to visit with many oceanside views and is a great place to go on a getaway. There are a lot of amazing places in Italy, there is a lot of variety, because in Italy there are a lot of amazing cities, but also if you like the sea you can go to the south like to Puglia or Sardinia or Sicily. If you prefer the mountains you can go to the north of Italy, like Trentino-Alto Adige, where there are amazing views. If you like visiting cities, you can go visit Rome, where there are a lot of amazing buildings like the Colosseum, or you can visit Turin, Milan, Venice, Florence, Bologna.
The second most popular place that people wanted to visit was a tie between Bora Bora and Hawaii. The people who wanted to go to Bora Bora were Emily Rogers and Harley Hodel. The students that wanted to go to Hawaii were Jack Hanrahan and Harley Hodel. One of the most popular things people tend to do when they visit Bora Bora is jet skiing, relax at Matira Beach, or you can even visit an aquarium to admire all the beautiful creatures of the sea. In Hawaii there are endless things to do, you can go snorkeling and get a sneak peek at sea creatures in their natural habitat. You can also go surfing, whale watching, and so many other fun things.
Jacob Pickett wanted to go to the happiest place on earth, Disney World. In Disney World, there are a ton of things to do. It’s a place made for everyone’s enjoyment! You can go on any of the 173 rides in Disney World, eat at any of the 200 places available for people to eat at, or just enjoy the magical views all around the park.
Some people wanted to keep it simple. Mrs. Updegraff’s dream vacation was to camp in the middle of nowhere and Mrs. Davis just wanted to go somewhere warm with her husband and her baby. Mrs. Davis also just wanted to have some time at home with nothing to do.
Who doesn’t love going to the beach? Several people that we interviewed answered with a place that has a beach where you can spend the day relaxing and listening to the calming sound of ocean waves. Madi Sheppard said she would go to the Maldives, Kaylee Turvey wanted to go to Jersey Shore, Noah Perschall wanted to visit Puerto Rico, and Harley Hodel dreamed of going to the Bahamas. In the Maldives you can go dolphin watching, parasailing, fishing, and so much more. When you visit the Jersey Shore you can have a quiet day relaxing on the beach and walking the boardwalk. In Puerto Rico, you get a taste of a different culture. You can go on a natural waterslide called, El Yunque, then you can spend a day or two on all the beaches that they have to offer, you can go to Cueva del Indio and enjoy the pretty sights, these are just a few of the many things you can do in Puerto Rico. In the Bahamas, everyone has seen the people that swim with pigs in the ocean but, have you heard about all the other things you can do too? You can go to the pink sands beach, Lucayan National Park, and many other beautiful and relaxing places, perfect for when you just need a break from reality.
Although a lot of people would like to go to a beach, there was one person, Kevin Nguyen, who would take their dream vacation in the big city. New York, New York! There are many things to do in New York such as going to the Statue of Liberty. You can also go see Broadway and Times Square.
A few people wanted to take their dream vacations in Europe. Vice Principal Lawler wanted to take three months backpacking around Europe, Mrs. Gresham hopes to be able to spend a month in Europe, Mrs. Moore would like to go to Iceland, Mr. Kirton would love to go to Ireland, Trevor wants to go to Switzerland, and Madi Sheppard wants to go to Greece. Backpacking around Europe takes a lot of endurance but it's all worth it because of the places you will get to see and the reward after finishing your backpacking trip. There are so many things to do and see in Europe that you could very well spend a month bumping around the different cities in Europe and you wouldn’t run out of things to do. In Iceland, you can enjoy the majestic landscapes that will take your breath away. In Ireland, home of everything St. Patrick's Day, you can see a bunch of natural landscapes, such as cliffs and the national parks that Ireland has to offer. In Switzerland, you can go on a boat trip, look at the mountains, visit the Olympic museum, and much more. It's safe to say Europe is known for its scenic beauty, but one of the prettiest places to visit in Europe is Greece. You can climb Mount Olympus, watch the sunset, and check out some of the architectural masterpieces in the area.
One person wanted to stay relatively close to home. That person was our custodian, John. He wanted to go to the Ozarks. There is so much to do in the Ozarks! You can boat to many different restaurants and enjoy time with friends and family. There are also lots of coves on the lake where you can swim, drive jet skis, and tube! Some of the best restaurants include Frankie and Louies, Redheads, The Cave, and lots more. There is so much to do at the Lake of The Ozarks!
Sometimes our dream vacation doesn’t have a destination. Vice Principal Lawler, would love to just travel west for three months. He would like to travel west where you would be able to go to the Grand Canyon and see other cool places down the road and landmarks.
Mrs. Hicklin wants to go to Southeast Asia. She would love to go to Thailand and then to Laos, which is actually the place she was born. Southeast Asia is another amazing place. In these places, there is a lot of nature and amazing views but there are also some important cities like Bangkok and Vientiane.
Only one person chose a place that's in South America. Olivia Ditchen’s dream vacation is to go to Brazil. Brazil is an amazing country, with a lot of nature because there is the biggest forest in the world. There are a lot of big cities like San Paolo, Rio de Janeiro, in the last city there is also the statue of Christ the Redeemer, then in Brazil there are also amazing beaches.
Finally, the last dream vacation was from Mr. Robertson. He would go on an African safari if he had the opportunity. Africa is a really cool place to go and you get to see a bunch of wild animals in their wild habitats such as elephants, zebras, lions, and a lot more. It's a perfect place to observe how animals have to learn how to survive in the wild with the attributes they are given.
