With Dr. Bruemmer, College and Career Coordinator at Heyworth High School
As soon as students become juniors or seniors, they start to seriously think about their future. What will they do next? Would they choose to go to college to pursue a degree in a field of their choice, will they go straight into a career after high school because of connections or skills that they have, or will they pursue a career in the military helping to serve our nation?
The first of several College, Career, and Military events occurred this past week and helped students to make a more informed decision for their future. From October 16th to October 20th, Dr. Bruemmer put together College Gear week which had students and staff wearing their college gear to advertise the variety of paths that people took or are planning to take. Every day when students wore their college gear, they would be given a raffle ticket and a winner was chosen each day. On Thursday she hosted a fair for people who are interested in any colleges or careers that students would like to try out. When we talked to Dr. Bruemmer about the impact these people would have, she said, “This gives students the opportunity to make a push for what they want to do when they graduate from high school." The fair included representatives from several colleges and universities as well as representatives from various military branches.
Looking towards the future, Dr. Bruemmer is continuing to organize visits from representatives and will continue to help prepare the students of Heyworth High School for their future, no matter what path they choose.
