Student Council, sponsored by Mrs. Cooper-Lawson, is responsible for choosing the homecoming theme. The council also dedicates time outside of school to plan and organize all of the fun activities throughout the week. These council members, led by President Jacob Hartwig decorated the hallways on the Sunday leading into Homecoming Week to make the magic appear for students when they first arrive Monday morning.
Additionally, some of this year's homecoming decorations are being prepared but several students who are involved in the Art Club at Heyworth High School. The Art Club is sponsored by Ms. Anderson and led by Art Club Co-Presidents Sage Ellis, Calileia Anderson, Ireland Timm, and Micah Hilderbrand. Together they worked to create and design some of the decorations for the Heyworth In Wonderland theme. Several other members of the Art Club took time after school to help out. In an interview with their fellow students, they said that trying to find time to do their homework and keep up with their other activities is especially stressful, however, being able to help make the homecoming dreams a reality makes it all worth it.
Finally, people around the community have also been a big help by contributing to the creation and effort put into the decorations. Specifically, several local families have allowed students to use their property to keep the decorations safe and work to build their class's homecoming floats. Each class is responsible for making their own floats that fit with the overall theme and without the support of community members, these would not be possible.
