The USA has always been huge sports fans, and the biggest sporting event is right around the corner! The 2024 Summer Olympics will mainly be hosted in Paris, France this year. This is an upcoming international sporting event scheduled to take place from the 26th of July to the 11th of August 2024. Some of the sporting categories will be held in 16 other cities spread across Metropolitan France.
During the Olympics, the athletes of all the countries in the world compete to try to win a medal for their country. There are a lot of sports being played at this year’s Olympics, some of the sports to look forward to this year are soccer, volleyball, tennis, swimming, boxing, ping pong, fencing, badminton, and a lot of other sports.

The last Olympics were in Tokyo in 2020, but for the COVID-19 they were played in 2021. The country with the most medals was the USA with 113, and a total of 39 gold medals. In the second position was China, with a total of 89 medals, and in the third position was the host country, Japan, with a total of 58 medals. The USA won the gold medal for men's and women's basketball, then they also won the gold medal for women's volleyball.
