Stanley Cup Playoffs are Underway

Officially on April 20th, 2024 began the quest for the 108th Stanley Cup Championship. Each year 16 teams based on performance participate in the playoffs: 8 Eastern Conference and 8 Western Conference.

At the time of writing this article, several games and series have been played, including The New York Rangers vs The Washington Capitals. With the NY Rangers coming on top the Capitals have been eliminated from the playoffs and will have to wait until next season for another shot.

Another series has come to an end as well, featuring The Florida Panthers who defeated the Tampa Bay Lighting. 

Those remaining are still battling to try to take home the Stanley Cup. The Stanley Cup Championship is a best-of-7 series with 16 series in total. Each winner of the Stanley Cup has had each of their players' names engraved onto it due to the trophy being the same one since the beginning of the championships, unlike most national sports organizations that make a new trophy each year. Each team also gets a Stanley Cup ring for each player, no ring from each year is alike due to teams having to create their rings. Another benefit of the cup is that each player on the winning team gets a day with the cup to be organized to do whatever, wherever they'd like. The top prospect this year for the cup is the Carolina Hurricanes along with the Florida Panthers, and the Edmonton Oilers.
