This season, the softball team has been led by the dedication of two seniors: Macie Toepke and Morgan Kessler. Their journey with softball began long before high school, with both athletes being committed to the sport even before entering junior high. Both on and off the field, Macie and Morgan have consistently demonstrated sportsmanship, and been a role model for their teammates. With their senior night being tonight, it is time to shine a spotlight on these two impactful athletes and celebrate all of their success in their time playing softball at Heyworth High School.
Macie Toepke starts in the middle infield for the softball team. Her favorite memory while playing softball was the super-sectional game her sophomore year. After graduating she plans on attending Heartland and then getting her bachelor's of science nursing at a university. For her younger teammates, she said to enjoy every moment of high school and make all the memories while you can.
Morgan Kessler is the starting pitcher for the Lady Hornets. After high school, she plans to play softball at Illinois Central College. Her advice for younger teammates is to enjoy the game and don’t take it too seriously.
Junior Emily Rogers says “we will miss their skills on the softball field and their energy off the field. They have made a huge impact on the team and we will truly miss them on and off the field next year. It is undeniable that their dedication and passion for the sport will be missed in years to come.” Come out tonight to support Macie and Morgan at their final home game and senior night celebration!
