Spring Season Approaching
The spring sports season in Illinois begins on February 26th, and anticipation is building for another season of Lady Hornets softball. Coached by JJ Slayback and Dena Springer, the team will return with two seniors and a few newcomers. As former regional champs, just falling short in the sectional championship, all eyes are on the Hornets as they prepare to take the field this spring, with their first game being on March 20th.
Key Matchups
Heyworth vs. LeRoy (4/8)
Heyworth @ Tri-Valley (4/15)
Heyworth @ Central Catholic (5/1)
Senior Spotlights
Morgan Kessler is our starting pitcher for this season. Last season, she had a batting average of .316, and was fifth on the team last season. Additionally, she had an ERA of 3.97 in her junior season. She has had a passion for softball for 12 years and will continue playing at ICC after high school.
Macie Toepke has been playing shortstop for the past few seasons. She had a batting average of 0.436 and was second on the team in her junior season. She has been playing for 10 years and decided this will be her final year taking the field.
The Lady Hornets will return stronger this year and with more determination. #dawgpound.
