Heyworth Track Team’s Early Momentum

Carsyn Langellier

Since our return to school in January, the track athletes at Heyworth High School have been preparing for the season ahead. Enduring workouts in the winter weather, sprinting down the hallways, and training in the weight room, they've demonstrated their commitment to this sport. Despite the official season only kicking off this week, the track team has wasted no time and already has two meets under their belt.

The girl's team competed at the Clinton Early Bird Invite on February 17th at the Shirk Center at IWU. This was the team’s second year attending this meet, and it was one of the first opportunities to compete across the state. Some stand-out performances from the meet include Danielle Strunk placing 2nd in the 200m with a time of 27.52, Carsyn Langellier placing 5th in the long jump with a mark of 4.53m, and the 4x200 team consisting of Carsyn Langellier, Danielle Strunk, Abby Bloemer, and Reese Hill placing 6th with a time of 1.55.93.
